Gaëlle Crenn is a lecturer in Information and Communication Sciences at the University of Lorraine, member of the CREM (Centre de recherche sur les médiations). She dedicated her PhD (Ph.D. in Communication, UQAM, 2001) to the patrimonialization of the environment (“Le biodôme de Montréal ou la nature médiatisée. Patrimonialisation de l’environnement dans un dispositif d’immersion simulée”). Her current research in museum studies focuses on the representation of otherness in anthropological museums, both in Europe and the Pacific, and on scenographic devices, particularly those used in the representation of violence. In the field of heritage, she has also conducted research on industrial heritage (“Around the blast furnace. Arts, tourism and industry”. 2013-2015. with Jean-Louis Tornatore).

Since January 2021, she is the Deputy Director of the journal Culture et Musée.
