Sociology of culture, collective memory, museums

The research project analyzes, in a comparative way, museums, monuments, parks and memorials, national and foreign, whose mission is not only to denounce the violation of human rights, but to promote civic actions and social interventions. The strategies used by memory-related sites have changed considerably in the past decade. From narratives focused on the representation and strengthening of identities, the new proposals focus on the production of encounters and emotions that provoke actions and reactions on the public scene. These changes accompany new ways of perceiving the relationship between space and time, and, consequently, the definition of memory.
