Eckehard Pistrick

holds a PhD in ethnomusicology of Université Paris-Ouest-Nanterre, France and the University of Halle, Germany. Within the framework of the Thyssen-Foundation project « Aural and Visual Representations of Albanian identity » (since 2007-2010) and as a lecturer at the University of Halle (since 2009) his scientific work focuses on the interrelation of singing, memory, emotion, social and moral order in the Balkans, backed by field research in Greece, Albania, Macedonia and Bulgaria. The construction of multipart singing as heritage and as a “cultural object” which can become negotiated, appropriated and “staged” by social and political actors forms the core of his approach. A further dimension of his work relates to music and migration, the changing soundscapes of socialist and postsocialist societies and the role of audiovisual media in processes of identity formation and contestation (http://www.c-s-p.org/flyers/978-1-4438-2930-4-sample.pdf). He is member of the Centre de Recherche en Ethnomusicologie (CREM-LESC), Paris.
