Applications for a full time Research Associate to support the work of the AHRC Heritage Priority Area Leadership Fellow are being sought. The Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) have appointed a Heritage Priority Area Leadership Fellow (Professor Rodney Harrison) to act as an ambassador for the development of the intellectual agenda for the research field, engaging with communities across disciplinary boundaries and promoting collaboration within academia and beyond. The researcher will undertake a series of specific, focused desktop research assignments, contributing to the authorship of papers and reports on a diverse range of heritage related topics and themes, including but not limited to the relationship between natural and cultural heritage, heritage and climate change and heritage and data science. The post holder will work closely with the Executive Assistant to the AHRC Heritage Priority Area Leadership Fellow to provide communications and media support and to assist with the intellectual design and logistical support of a series of planned events, workshops, conferences and symposia. The post is available for up to 36 months, ending 31 December 2019, in the first instance.

 

The successful candidate will have a PhD in anthropology, archaeology, geography, history, museum studies or a related subject with a clearly demonstrated focus on heritage or museum studies. They will also have a demonstrated knowledge of research and/or work experience in the heritage or museum sector. A demonstrated interest, or experience of, cross disciplinary working, especially working in and across ‘natural’ and ‘cultural’ heritage. The candidate will also have a strong publications record for their career stage and demonstrated experience in undertaking directed research tasks.
