UNESCO/World Heritage Centre is looking for candidatures for a 3 months contract based in Paris.
Terms of reference of contract:
Under the supervision of the Policy and Statutory Meetings’ Unit within the World Heritage Center, the contractor shall, in the framework of the Retrospective Inventory project of the World Heritage Sites, ensure the update of data concerning properties on the World Heritage List.
This task shall include, amongst others:
- a) Research, identify and review past decisions of the World Heritage Committee and other relevant information available on the World Heritage Centre’s website concerning Retrospective Statements of Outstanding Universal Value, and to develop an internal reporting mechanism
- b) Review the status of boundaries clarification of properties at the time of their inscription on the World Heritage List and develop a methodology of updating the date and produce an updated list of the status of boundaries clarification;
- c) Research and identify all the relevant information provided by States Parties concerning properties and produce electronic version of these nominations to be posted on the World Heritage website;
- d) Develop a procedure to identify gaps between information on the properties submitted by States Parties and their digitised version through Retrospective Inventories and develop a mechanism to fill in these gaps, as well as try out a pilot phase.
Required skills :
Solid academic background in humanities (social and human sciences), at least at Master level combined with strong ICT skills
Fluent in English and French
Strong analytical skills; excellent writing skills in at least one of the two languages
